After seeing this reviewed on another blog I decided to give it a try, even though I am usually dedicated to my collection of Liz Earle masks. This was £22.50 for 15ml - its a teeny little jar but I thought I'd go for it after all the positive reviews. I think you'd only get about 5 or 6 applications out of this so that's roughly £4.50 ish per use!
It's dubbed as a "facial in a jar" and is used backstage in Hollywood and promises "immediate camera-ready glowing skin". They had me at "Hollywood"!!
Amongst other things the mask contains French Sea Clay which has anti ageing qualities, Volcanic minerals to detoxify and Teaoxi which helps to brighten the complexion and contains anti-oxidants.
The other benefits listed on the website include:
Skin Collagen Synthesis for a noticeable 3 day glow.
Brighter, radiant skin in minutes.
Leaves skin noticeably soft and smooth.
Multi-level resurfacing exfoliation.
Penetrates into the deepest layers of the skin to soften fine lines and wrinkles.
Tightens, tones and lifts the skin.
Relives dark circles and minimises pores.
Absorbs impurities without removing natural oils.
Helps protect against everyday environmental aggressors.
Suitable for all skin types, all ages and for both women and men.
Contains no artificial colours or fragrances.
99% paraben-free, cruelty-free, and suitable for vegans.
The direction for use is:
"For best results apply in a medium layer with a foundation brush to clean skin. The mask will tingle as it tightens and brightens the skin. Leave Glamglow on for 5 to 10 minutes or until the mask fully dries and rinse off with water, using circular motions to deepen the level of exfoliation. Use Glamglow once or twice a week or whenever your skin needs an instant boost".
As you can see the mask is a deep green colour and the texture is extremely gritty and contains quite large pieces of volcanic minerals to exfoliate the skin. I found it tricky to apply all over my face as it's very thick and doesn't spread easily. I smells surprisingly nice which is a plus for this product. After a couple of minutes following application the tingle effect starts...I think the purpose of this is to stimulate collagen synthesis but I didn't like it at all. Rather than tingling I felt like it was prickly and a bit itchy. I persevered with it to get the benefits but I couldn't wait to get it off my face once it had dried! I think I lasted about 7 minutes before I had to wash it off, which was pretty good going for me considering I don't have a high threshold for being uncomfortable!
It washes off fairly easily and underneath it did leave my skin refreshed and very clean. Although I did question whether it was because this stuff removed a layer of my skin?! It's a little too gritty and harsh on my skin which worries me slightly as I don't really want my skin being scratched or damaged. Having said that my face felt toned and the skin tight and plump.
I've had this about 6 weeks and have only used it on two occasions, that speaks volumes to me as if I like a product I'll use it weekly if not more. It's an expensive little product that although I think it made a difference to my skin I don't think I'll re-purchase as it feels a bit too aggressive for my skin. I will however finish the jar as I hate things going to waste! To see the full product information or to purchase click here.
Have you tried this product?
Did you love it or hate it?

Such a shame about the price it makes it have to impress much more when it costs so much! Saddly doesn't seem that this has lived up to your expectations :( I've never tried the product but am 100% in the market for something to brighten up my skin that's for sure!

Sarah I totally agree, if it costs that much money I expect to be impressed by the product! It didn't live up to my expectations but I'm glad I tried it anyway. I'd recommend the Liz Earle Brightening mask for something to add a glow to your skin!

DeleteWowza this is the ultimate definition of a treat for your face. I would love to get my hands on a mask like this but that price tag is deterring me at the moment.

DeleteI will google that mask you mentioned - sounds like something I could do with!
Thanks for following honey xx
It's such a shame that such an expensive product doesn't live up to your expectations :( But it's always reassuring to be able to find something for a fraction of the price which you find works even better, and blogging about it as an added bonus for us all ;) xxxxx
ReplyDeleteI was quite disappointed but I like to try these things for myself to be sure! Everyones different so someone else might absolutely love it.
DeleteThanks for visiting honey! x
This mud mask was one of my wish list, but sadly it doesn't bring the 'wow' results.
ReplyDeleteRecently I bought MASK OF MAGNAMINTY for my deep cleaning treatment, which I think it is a great beauty budget find for me.
I know what you mean Olivia - quite disappointing.
DeleteI'll check out the one you mentioned - let me know if you do a review so I can check out what you thought xx
